I really do have to give Michael kudos for taking care of me. I'm on the road again in the Chicago area and he is left at home to be both mother and father. I hate leaving and look forward to the day when I can just stay home to be wife and mom (July 2011).
Every trip I take I can count on the first night being a sleepless one for one reason or another. For one thing I was wound up from a non-stop 2 1/2 hour flight from Albuquerque to Chicago turning into a 6 hour flight with a side-trip to Indianapolis. Ironically on the same day as a plane disappears on it's way to France my flight was on approach to land and at the last minute pulled up less than a mile from the runway. According to the pilot there was a "wind sheer" and for safety he chose not to land. We didn't have enough fuel to circle so they went to Indianapolis to refuel and oh-by-the-way have maintenance check to make sure there was no hail damage. So after sitting on a plane for 6 hours and then driving in the rain for a couple of hours I finally arrived safe a semi-sound.
I was looking forward to a hot bath and a comfortable room only to receive a former smoking room and hence did not breathe well through the night. First thing this morning I requested a room change which I was granted and quickly packed up and switched rooms. However, it wasn't that easy as it sounds as I had to go back to the desk 3 times before they could get all the room keys to work then rushed for a busy work day.
I returned to the room to find a beautiful bouquet of flowers sitting on the table with my name on it. My first thought was "How nice of the hotel to put fresh flowers in my room after I went through so much trouble last night and this morning". To my great surprise it was from Michael with a note that said, "See I still love you!" It was the BEST thing that he could have done for me. We celebrated our 12 year anniversary on Saturday, May 30th and our plans didn't quite work out like we wanted on Saturday and I wasn't feeling too great the whole weekend and my leaving for work Monday morning just put a damper on the whole celebration. Don't get me wrong we had a great dinner and movie night but it wasn't what we had ultimately wanted to do. Hopefully our plans for the 15th year anniversary to Hawaii will not fall through!!! Until then we will plan and save and save and save and then plan some more.
