Never Enough Time

Well all my intentions to keep up with this blog went by the wayside just because I want everything to be perfect and it takes me FOREVER to decide on how I want things to look and then I never finish anything. It doesn't help that I don't have the photos I want to post with me when I am on the road which is the best time for me to do this kind of thing. Then when I get home I don't make the time to upload the photos. Blah, blah, blah. . .

Oh well, the one thing I am totally grateful for is repentance and the ability to change and make things better starting now. So now I am starting over.

Brittney and Robin stayed with us for a few days while Keri went to help Julie in GA. We love having them here! They really are good girls and Michael and I consider them "our girls". Every weekend it is one big slumber party and McKenna loves it because all of her sisters are here. The photos are ones that Robin took when the girls went to Wendy's for a Frosty (Brittney, Tori and Teja can all drive now - frightening I know) and as you can see McKenna is enjoying every minute of it. She thinks she is one of the big girls too. In fact a few weeks ago when I was out of town on business I called home and Michael said, "Talk to your daughter about getting rid of her boyfriend". When McKenna got on the phone she promptly told me that she "broke up with him today" and that I shouldn't worry. I reminded her that we don't date till we are 16 and that she should just have lots of friends. I think she understands, but she hears the girls talking every weekend about boys and all of the drama that goes with it and she is just trying to fit in.

For Christmas we got the family Rock Band for our XBox. It has become a family favorite especially since Saturday was the first time in years that Kyle has played a game with the family. It was such a momentous event that McKenna insisted on getting a picture of her playing the drums while Kyle was singing.

McKenna has been working on losing her first tooth since January 4th. The permanant tooth has already "poked" through and the baby tooth continues to hang on. I am documenting the tale and we are pleading with her to let one of us (preferrably her dad since I am so squeemish) pull it for her. I just know that she will lose it next week when I am out of town and I will miss it.

I need to end as it is time for bed but I guess I should take a minute to thank my Heavenly Father for everything that He has given me including my safety. Last Tuesday I was traveling to work, mediating and thinking about the day ahead just as I always do when all of a sudden I realized that the traffic had suddenly slowed and I had not. It happened so fast and in slow motion all at the same time (I have never experienced anything quite like it before). I hit the Ford Escape in front of me going 65-70 mph. I was driving my 8 month old company car (Nissan Maxima) and I literally went under their bumper and bounced out. My airbag was deployed but it didn't really "save" me as much as my seatbelt did. I came out of the whole thing with minimal bruising. The woman I hit had her 10 yr old and 7 yr old sons with her and when I asked them if they were ok the oldest boy responded, "Yeah that was cool!". My boss and a co-worker rush to the scene to make sure I was ok and my dear husband also came to rescue me. He was sooooo good about not saying anything negative like, "I told you you were a crazy driver". Instead he just made sure I was taken care of. The officer that arrived on the scene was the son of my nearest and dearest, "other mother" and he was kind enough to not ticket me. We found out yesterday that the car is repairable but I won't see it for a month or more because the parts are not stocked up due to the economy and must be ordered. I can't complain because Ernie (my boss) has graciously and promptly given me another company car to drive (an OLD, LOUD, tank of a suburban) that is reliable and safe. When we drove it the next morning McKenna said, "Are we going to have to keep this car forever?" When I told her no she thought for a minute and then started to find all the positive things about it like, "there's enough room in the back for all the groceries" and "we can pretend it's like the school bus because it is bumpy like the school bus". That's my "Pollyanna"!

Well gotta go! Hopefully the next post will be sooner rather than later.
